IC of GB v IC of Ireland - Saturday 21st July 2018

The IC Ireland team arrived in London Friday night in preparation for a Match against the ICGB. We were met at the Airport by Pater Hannon and he arranged transport for us to our Hotel.

Another competitive yet amicable match took place on Saturday 21st July between the ICs of GB and Ireland. Friendships were renewed on a glorious sunny day, with the GB team gaining a hard fought victory 8-6. The last rubber was decided by a championship tie-break. IC Ireland almost managed to get a draw out of the fixture.

James Cluskey and Fergus O Connell played some great tennis and won both their singles matches. Deirdre Collins and Joanne Williamson played an epic 1st doubles match and pulled of an incredible win for Ireland against the hotly favoured ICGB pairing of Siobhan Nicholson & Judy Horn . They went on to win their 2nd doubles match as well. Noel Sheridan & Conor McCullough won their 2nd Doubles match and Conor then teamed up with Joanne and went on to win their mixed Doubles match.

We were invited to Peter and Jane's House later that evening for a BBQ . It was a beautiful evening and a perfect end to a most enjoyable day.

Our thanks go out to The Limpsfield Club in Surrey and all its membership for supporting the fixture by granting us the use of their courts and facilities for the entire day.

The ICGB Club Captain, Mark Beim, attended the after match party to receive the Trophy on behalf of the ICGB team.
