IC Ireland v Westside Tennis Club

The IC of Ireland were delighted to play against Westside Lawn tennis club for the first time on Wimbledon finals weekend on July 13th.

There was 3 rounds of matches which comprised of 2 men’s and ladies singles, 2 men’s and ladies doubles and 2 mixed doubles. This was year 1 of this newly created fixture and the biggest challenge was making sure we matched the levels correctly.

The match was extremely competitive. It was played on artificial clay and the was a beautiful London’s summer day. After the first round of matches the club had bacon sandwiches for us from the BBQ and then we pressed on with the doubles matches.

The match came down to the wire and was 4-4 going into the mixed where we split those matches to mean the match ended with a 5-5 draw.

Westside had a bbq for both teams and we had some drinks and hung out with them. The Irish team then headed to a local pub in Wimbledon where we continued long into the night. 

Overall a good fixture and looking forward to building the relationship over the coming years.
